For those who know, there is no greater experience than watching a classic stoner movie while being absolutely blazed on the couch. Thankfully, someone in Hollywood must have had a similar experience, as a whole genre of movies dedicated to the art of getting high have graced the silver screen over the last several decades.
We at Skyf, knowing that your time is precious, have created a list of must-watch movies so that you can easily choose something to watch the next time you have couchlock.
So, in no particular order, here are our top 10 must-watch stoner movies.
Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie (1980)
The second movie in potentially the greatest stoner trilogy to exist, Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie, just like the Godfather pt.2, is the best movie in the franchise. A must watch for any certified stoner.

Based on the book by Hunter S. Thompson, this psychedelic masterpiece truly captures what it is like to be tripping in public. Although not strictly weed related, it is still compulsory viewing for any Johnny Depp fan.

The Big Lebowski (1998)
Starring Jeff Bridges as “the dude”, potentially the greatest stoner character of all time, in this Coen Brothers classic. All the dude wants is restitution for his ruined rug.

Set in 1976 in a small town in Texas, this cult classic follows high school students on their last day of class, as they try to get stoned, drunk or laid. Look out for a young (and very blazed) Matthew McConaughey.

Up in Smoke (1978)
Yes, there are two Cheech and Chong movies on this list. Yes, they both deserve to be here. Up in Smoke chronicles the first adventures of the two stoner icons as they unknowingly smuggle a van made entirely of marijuana across the US border.

Soul Plane (2004)
No stoner movie list would be complete without this classic from the Snoop Dogg himself. Starring Kevin Hart, this movie centres around the maiden flight of his all-new airline, complete with funky music, an onboard dance club, and bathroom attendants.

Bill and Ted’s excellent Adventure (1989)

Friday (1995)
It’s Friday, and Craig Jones (played by the legendary Ice Cube) has just been fired. This is a problem, as Craig owes his dealer $200, and if he doesn’t pay up, there probably won’t be a Saturday. This movie helped spawn some of the most popular memes of the last decade.

Pineapple Express (2008)
A stoner masterpiece. The modern-day Cheech and Chong. Potentially the first and only perfect stoner movie. Watching this while stoned may change your life. Starring some of the greatest characters saying some of the greatest lines in cinematic history. A must-watch.

Honourable Mention: The Big Lez Show (2012)
Although not strictly a movie, this Australian animated series (which can be found on YouTube) is perfect for watching while stoned. In fact, it is recommended to only watch this while stoned. The Big Lez show follows the adventures of a humanoid alien, known as Lez, on adventures that he shares with his crew of friends, and Clarence.
